If you found yourself here on this article, it is most probably because you know of a woman who might have this problem- Hypothyroidism. We all know that Hypothyroidism and just health issues with the thyroid in general has been a concern for a lot of women in the USA. I wanted to explore more about this and give you all information of how to remedy it.

Nigella sativa, more commonly known as black seed, is a flowering plant native to southwest Asia. The plant is best known for its small, black seeds, which have been used for centuries in traditional medicine. In recent years, scientific research has begun to explore the potential health benefits of black seed. One area of interest is the effect of black seed on thyroid function.

There is a study that was conducted in 2013 on how Nigella Sativa reverses issues of Hypothyroidism and normalizes serum levels of Thyroxine in the blood.

Histological Studies

Here is the conclusion paragraph of the study:

“Conclusion:

recommend the use of NSO as a combination therapy
with antithyroid drugs to achieve a very ideal and
effective treatment of such metabolic disorders
concerning thyroid gland. Histological studies
proved significant therapeutic effect against PTU
induced hypothyroidism provided stopping or
adjusting drug administration with reverse of
hypothyroid changes in follicular cells and colloidal
content in hypothyroid rats into normal status.
However, it could not be used as a protective agent if
PTU was to be continued.”

Here is a Pubmed article about a similar study: Powdered black cumin seeds strongly improves serum lipids, atherogenic index of plasma and modulates anthropometric features in patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis – PMC (nih.gov)https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5870944/

This study concluded this:
“We have demonstrated beneficial effects of powdered black cumin in improving serum lipids and reducing body weight in patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Considering these health-promoting effects of Nigella sativa, it can be considered as a beneficial herbal supplement alongside with the disease- specific medications including Levothyroxine in management of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis- related metabolic abnormalities.”

Basically, Black seed is an incredibly versatile and effective natural remedy. It has been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments, including hypothyroidism. Black seed oil is rich in thymoquinone, which has been shown to be an effective treatment for hypothyroidism. In addition, black seed oil is also a good source of essential fatty acids, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

If you browse and check out articles on Google Scholar, Pubmed and University Libraries, you will find many findings about how to remedy many health problems that are serious. I by all means am not a practicing medical doctor but do research in finding ways to remedy these problems and wish to share it with the world for those that are also on their journey in learning and exploring.
